AutoMAG is a new, fully automated, highly integrated and self contained, high resolution Magnetometer Survey System  for helicopter installations, featuring a rigid-boom stinger for the magnetometer.    

Designed as a “bolt-on” system it provides an easy and inexpensive way to obtain high-quality magnetic survey data.  It is fully automated and requires no operator onboard the helicopter.   

AutoMAG features real-time  GPS navigation / positioning with 1 pps synchronization, and has either a radar altimeter or an optional laser altimeter for measuring the height above ground.An AUTO-NAV navigation guidance system is installed in the helicopter for pilot guidance.

The  magnetometer is a Scintrex CS-3 cesium vapour magnetometer coupled with a Pico Envirotec  MMS-4 smart processor.   The resolution of the magnetometer is better than 1 pico-Tesla, with sampling rates up to 100 Hz.

Real time or post-mission compensation is achieved by combining the frequency measurement from the CS-3 magnetometer with the measurements of analog outputs from a tri-axial fluxgate magnetometer.  A proprietary algorithm combines these measurements and eliminates most of the influences caused by the airframe movement through the Earth’s magnetic field

Geophysical and navigation data is recorded onto a solid-state memory card in the AAGIS Automated Airborne Geophysical Information System.

PEIView utility software provided with AutoMAG permits easy viewing of acquired data  for QC purposes and facilitates exporting the data in ASCII or Geosoft  GBN formats.
