Airborne Spectrometer Survey System AutoSPEC is a new, fully automated, highly integrated and self contained, gammaray spectrometer survey system for installation on mobile vehicles including trucks, helicopters and small light airplanes.Designed as a “bolt-on” system it provides an easy and inexpensive way to obtain mobile gammaray spectrometer survey data. It is fully automated and requires no operator.
AutoSPEC features real-time GPS navigation / positioning with 1 pps synchronization, and has either a radar altimeter or an optional laser altimeter for measuring the height above ground. A Pico Envirotec AUTONAV navigation guidance system is installed in the helicopter for pilot guidance.
The gammaray spectrometer is one of Pico Envirotec’s very successful AGRS-10 units, featuring 512 channels of individual spectra recording, a digital peak detector and up to 33.6 litres of NaI(TI) detector. An “upward-looking” detector is optionally available .
Geophysical and navigation data is recorded onto a solid-state memory card in the AAGIS Automated Airborne Geophysical Information System.
PEIView utility software provided with AutoSPEC permits easy viewing of acquired data for QC purposes and facilitates exporting the data for data processing and interpretation in ASCII or Geosoft GBN formats.
