PGIS consist of an advanced, low power Hand Held Computer (HHC) supplied with a Global Positioning System (GPS) Receiver. The HHC contains all the necessary software to detect and work with all the Pico Envirotec (PEI) intelligent instruments such as gamma spectrometer (GRS-2) and different types of magnetometers(MMS-4). PEI is developing new intelligent sensors that can be connected to the HHC.
A GPS receiver with navigation software is used to guide the operator during the survey. It can operate in navigation mode, with or without calibrated geographical maps, aerial photo or other geographical reference.
The operator can select the type of navigation 'Chase' for simple recording of the position with each one second measurement or 'Survey' for pre-planned movement of the operator within the survey area on pre-planned path or just simple 'Way point' guidance.
Two main support programs (running on PC) are supplied with the unit. PEIView, for fast data quality control as well as output data format conversion (Geosoft - Montaj -GBN and ASCII formats). PEIConv software is supplied for survey preparation, map or geographical reference calibration and survey re-plot after data acquisition.
